Life Long Learning with Western Iowa Tech Community College
STARS partners with Western Iowa Tech Community College to offer two Lifelong Learning Courses each summer: Learning to Communicate with Horses and Silver Saddles. A Lifelong Learning Membership with WITCC is required for both programs.
Learning to Communicate with Horses
- Who: Adults 50 and over
- What: A non-riding class focusing on how horses communicate and how to safely interact with them. Participants will engage in activities to build a relationship between horse and human.
Silver Saddles
- Who: Riders aged 50 and older
- What: A series of four classes (1.5 hours each) covering basic horsemanship skills, including grooming, tacking, walk-whoa transitions, steering, and trotting.
