Founded in 1984, STARS is one of the oldest non-profit organizations in Siouxland, dedicated to providing equine-assisted services. What began as an adaptive riding program has expanded to include:
- Therapeutic Riding
- Ground Work
- Equine Assisted Learning
- Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
- Horse Camp
- Community Partnerships
- Yoga
Each year, STARS serves individuals with emotional, intellectual, and physical disabilities from Siouxland and the greater tri-state area.
What is Equine Therapy?
Equine therapy involves working with horses to enhance an individual's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being. Benefits can be experienced both on horseback and through ground-based activities.
The rhythmic movements of riding closely mimic human gait, helping riders improve flexibility, balance, muscle strength, circulation, and breathing. Additionally, the unique bond formed with horses fosters increased confidence, patience, and self-esteem. Stars, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering our community through various programs and initiatives. Our mission is to make a positive impact and create a better future for all.
